With the emergence of Governor Yahaya Bello, the leadership of the Kogi State House of Assembly will surely be changed. The political arrangement in the state is such that the positions of Governor, Deputy and Speaker are to be spread across the three Senatorial Districts of West, Central and East.

As it stands, the Speaker of the House of Assembly is from Kogi Central, same as the Governor. The permutations in the state point to the Deputy Governor emerging from Kogi East, the Speaker will move to the West and the Deputy Speaker to the Central and Majority Leader to the East.

The Majority Leader Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Mathew Yomi Kolawole a PDP member representing Kabba/Bunu constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly has vowed to remove the Speaker from office and a new speaker will be sworn in to replace him soon.

According to Honorable Matthew Kolawole in a meeting with Kogi West PDP Leaders forum held at Reverton hotel on Friday in Lokoja, who explained reasons why the Honorable Momoh Jimoh-Lawal will be impeached as Speaker, said “the Governor and the speaker cannot come from the same senatorial zone in the state if we want peace and fairness in governance.”

The speaker is from the same Local Government with the newly sworn in Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello from Okehi Local Government.
