MULTIPLE EXPLOSIONS DESTROY BUILDINGS, INJURES TWO IN EDO

Multiple explosions rocked the popular ‘Three House’ junction, off Upper Sakponba road, in Edo State today evening, destroying four residential buildings and injuring at least two people.

It was learnt that the incident occurred near a school, Oka Primary School, in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the state.

According to 'Within Nigeria', the affected buildings had been abandoned two years ago by suspected kidnappers, who used it as a hideout, after some soldiers reportedly raided it, following a tip off.

Although details of the cause of the blasts were still sketchy at the time of filing this report, it was learnt that many of the residents suspected them to be bomb explosions.

No life has been reported lost in blasts.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Osifo Abiodun, who confirmed the incident, said that the police had begun investigation to ascertain what led to the explosions.

He, however, did not state whether any arrest was made.

“Yes, there was an explosion. But the police are investigating what happened,” Abiodun said on telephone.
