Niger varsity, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL) rewards 18 students for excellence



Vice-chancellor of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), Prof. Mohammed Nasir Maiturare, has announced scholarship for 18 best students for the 2014/2015 academic session of the university.

Maiturare gave the benefitting students letters of the scholarship yesterday at the 10th matriculation of over 2, 956 new students in Lapai.

He explained that the 18 students were awarded the scholarship of the school for having the best Cumulative Grade for the 2014/2015 academic session in various programmes of the university, adding that the scholarship covered the tuition fees and accommodation of the beneficiaries.

He said the award was, however, for each session and those students who maintained a cumulative grade of four points above and the best in the university various programmes would benefit for that session and have to maintain the cut of grades to become eligible in next session.

He said the university admitted total of 3, 078 students out of which 2, 956 students had successfully completed their registration.

He regretted that university could not admit more than 36 percent of those who applied for admission in the 2015/2016 session, adding that out of the 8,186 students that applied for admission only 3,078 were offered admission.

He said the number of students who applied for the university’s programmes had been on the increase, adding that this had made admission to be very competitive.

Maiturare, therefore, admonished the students to be of good character and that they should avoid all forms of indiscipline and vices because the university’s degree was awarded to only students who are found worthy in both character and learning.
